About the event

Join us for a guided mushroom hunting event in Leipzig, led by hobby mycologist Leon Metzroth. This event is perfect for getting to know other expats and learning about the nature of Leipzig. 

Leipzig has many green parts that hold many different kinds of plant life. November is the perfect season to learn about the mushrooms that you probably started to see growing all around. Which ones can you eat? Which one should you avoid? How do you pick mushrooms properly? And most important- How to cook it and with what?? Leon, a geography teacher, and mushroom grower would love to teach you about the wildlife that exists right in our back door. 

What to expect:

-Introduction and rules of mushroom hunting

-Small guide on how to find and identify mushrooms

-guided search for mushrooms

-exploring the parks and nature of Leipzig

-Tips and suggestions on how to prepare the edible mushrooms

What's needed:

-Appropriate clothing (e.g. wind/rain resistant jackets, hiking clothes; nothing too expensive, it should be able to get dirty and feel comfortable to walk through the bush)

-Appropriate shoewear (boots, hiking shoes,...)

-A small pocket or kitchen knife (optional but very helpful)

-A food brush or toothbrush (optional)

-A basket or paper/tote bag or shoe box/carton (no plastic bag)

-Google Lens or Picture This (paid) - both optional but helpful

Take into account that the tour will be 3 hours so if you should bring water and snacks if required.
